It is important to have an initial orthodontic evaluation as recommended by the American Association of Orthodontists by age 7 to monitor growth patterns and correct any problems with the developing bite.
Appliances used in early interceptive orthodontics include:
- Partial Braces
- Retainers
- Palatal Expanders
- Space Maintainers
Orthodontic Observation
It is important to have an initial orthodontic evaluation by age 7 to monitor growth patterns and correct any problems with the developing bite. Orthodontic Observation, typically beginning at age 7 or 8, are every 6 months to 1 year observation visits. We watch the jaw as it develops to determine if or when early ortho treatment may be necessary such as partial braces or functional appliances.
Phase 1
During this early phase of orthodontic treatment, some baby teeth and some adult teeth are present
- Modify or change your child’s growth patterns
- Intercept a development problem – helps prevent grown-up teeth from being impacted
- Guide permanent teeth into a better position
- Can improve long-term results
- Correct harmful oral habits
Orthodontic Maintenance
Your child returns for routine visits 1-2 times per year to assess readiness for future full braces
