Meet the Dentists
Kerry Gallagher, DMD – Board Certified Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Gallagher has had a passion for working with children for as long as she can remember! As a young 11-year-old girl, she independently created a learn-to-read program during her 6th grade recess for kindergarteners in her elementary school through to college where she volunteered countless hours at the Battered Woman and Children’s Center to dental school when she spent her lunch hour in the Well Baby Nursery providing physical connections for babies born to HIV+ and drug-dependent mothers. Nurturing children, connecting and being present with them to help them feel at ease has always been part of her nature.
Dr. Kerry Gallagher was raised in Fairfield NJ and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Scranton in 1996 with a double major in Biology/Philosophy and a minor in Spanish. After completing her DMD degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in 2000, she attended the prestigious Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC where she served as chief resident and received her pediatric dentistry specialty certificate in 2002.
Dr. Gallagher has received multiple academic scholarships and honors including distinction from the American Academy of Persons with Disabilities for her treatment of special needs patients. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a member of both the NJ Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an expert in the growth and development of children’s mouths and prides herself on open communication and trusting relationships with both parents and children as well as superb behavior management skills. Her warm and friendly communication skills will ease a child’s fear about going to the dentist and specific treatment philosophies are tailored to each patient while focusing on preventative management of dental disease.
Dr Gallagher loves to cook and entertain and use her creative brain-whether class mom, girl scout leader or doing anything artistic! Fun fact- in high school she won state rankings for both fencing and, ironically, the Future Business Leaders of America. Today she is an avid dog lover, people lover and beachgoer and enjoys volunteering her time in the community and in her church and just being there for her kids.
Outside their amazing dental family, the doctors have two children; a daughter and a son and two naughty dogs; a chocolate lab named Gertie and a rescued yellow lab named Maisy. The doctors both grew up in New Jersey and have been living and working in Monmouth County since 2002. They love being an active part of the community which they work and can be found frequently out with their children at the beach, skiing, at dance competitions, or on the soccer field.
